Privacy Policy

Maha MangalGath · Last updated 10 October 2026

Maha MangalGath is a matrimonial service for families in India. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how you remove it. It applies to the Android app and to this website.

The short version. Your profile is visible to other members of the opposite gender, and to visitors browsing the app before they sign up. Your phone number and email are not — they are released only to a member who pays to unlock your contact, or when you share them yourself. You can delete your account and your data from inside the app at any time.

1. Who we are

Maha MangalGath ("we", "the app") is operated from Maharashtra, India. For questions about this policy or your data, write to support@mahamangalgath.in.

2. What we collect, and why

DataWhy
Name, gender, date of birth, height, weight, marital status, photographs Your profile — the thing other members, and visitors browsing before they sign up, search and read
Religion, community/caste, mother tongue Matching. Under India's DPDP Act these are sensitive; we collect them only because matrimonial matching in India is built on them, and only with your consent
City, district, state, education, profession, income band, family details, horoscope details Matching and search filters
Mobile number, email address, alternate number, surname Signing in, and contact exchange — held separately from your profile and released only as described in section 4
A success story you choose to share: a photograph of you and your spouse, and your words Shown to members once we have reviewed and published it, as described in section 4
Payment records (order id, amount, status) Contact purchases, receipts, and the tax records Indian law requires us to keep
Device notification token Sending you a notification when someone expresses interest
Blocks, reports, shortlists, interests, last-active day Safety, and keeping lists in step across your devices
Crash reports and app performance data (device model, Android version, what the app was doing when a fault occurred) Finding and fixing faults in the app

Location, for Nearby only. When you tap Nearby, the app asks for your phone's location — precise or approximate, as you choose. It is used on your phone to work out which towns lie within 50 km of you, and only the names of those towns go with the search. Your position itself is never sent to us and is not stored. Nearby is optional; the rest of the app works without it.

We do not collect your contacts, your call logs, your messages, or your browsing outside this app. The camera and photo permissions are used only when you choose to add a photo to your own profile or to a success story you share.

3. The legal basis

We process your data with your consent, given when you create an account and accept these terms (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023). You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account — see section 8. Some records are kept after deletion where a law requires it (section 7).

4. Who can see what

5. Photographs and moderation

Photographs are scanned automatically for adult and violent content before they are published, and may be reviewed by a person following a report. A success story is read by a person before it is published. A photograph you mark protected is not served by a public link. Removing a photo in the app removes the stored file.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising. We use these processors:

We may disclose data where an Indian law, court, or law-enforcement request requires it.

7. How long we keep it

8. Your rights, and deleting your account

You can see and correct every field of your profile inside the app. You can delete your account and its data from My Profile → Delete My Profile, and the profile leaves search immediately. If you cannot open the app, use the account deletion page.

Under the DPDP Act you may also ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or complain to us about how it was handled. Write to the Grievance Officer below; we reply within 15 days.

9. Grievance Officer

As required by the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021:

Grievance Officer, Maha MangalGath
Email: support@mahamangalgath.in
Maharashtra, India
Complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days.

10. Children

This service is for adults of legal marriageable age in India — 21 for men, 18 for women. We do not knowingly hold data about anyone younger, and an account found to belong to a minor is removed. Child sexual abuse and exploitation is never tolerated; our Child Safety Standards explain how to report a concern and what we do.

11. Changes

If this policy changes materially we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
